CSC Plan of Study
Theoretical Orientation Statement:
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is grounded in the understanding that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected. This approach proposes that distorted or negative thought patterns can lead to emotional distress and dysfunctional behaviors. By identifying and challenging these cognitive distortions, individuals can develop healthier perspectives and coping strategies. CBT emphasizes a collaborative therapeutic relationship, where clients are empowered through psychoeducation and skill-building, integrating techniques such as cognitive restructuring, behavioral activation, and mindfulness to foster personal growth and resilience.
